The Beach Boys were one of those revolutionary bands in 1960s that sort of left with a lot of unfinished business. Although legal matters and business conflicts were the reason for their break-up– along with turbulent times with their label Capitol, the fans were left wanting more after the masterpiece Pet Sounds.

Well, now I bring you good news. The follow-up to Pet Sounds, SMiLE, which was never released, is due out this year. The remaining original members, Al Jardine, Mike Love and Brian Wilson along with Capitol/EMI have compiled and set to release the SMiLE Sessions.

The SMiLE Sessions will be available in both physical and digital formats. You’ll have your pick of a 2CD set, digital album package or a limited-edition box set.

Both digital and physical formats will include SMiLE Sessions. The limited-edition features a lil’ somethin’ extra as reported by Blurt “early song drafts, alternate takes, instrumental and vocals-only mixes, and studio chatter.”

What else can you expect from this long awaited album? Blurt quoted the late Dennis Wilson, “In my opinion The SMiLE Sessions makes Pet Sounds stink — that’s how good it is.”
